 History

In the providence of God, Glory Christian Church formally incorporated and began in the summer of 1998. GCC sprang out of the prayers and belief of a group of Christians of Chinese heritage that there was a need to establish a new and somewhat unique church in San Diego, a church that would glorify God by being faithful of His Word and especially sensitive to the spiritual needs of people from Mainland China as well as more westernized Chinese and their English speaking offspring.

There was a hope held by many that this church would be in obedience to the Great Commission and eventually expand its ministries to other Asian Americans, and peoples not necessarily of Chinese heritage. 

Rev. William A. Dale joined GCC as the senior pastor in September, 1998 and laid the initial structure and started the Friday Evening Bible Study at First Baptist Church on Governor Drive on August 7, 1998, and weekly Sunday worship at Miramar College on December 6, 1998.

A steady growth followed, attracting both Mandarin speaking families and cross-cultural marriage couples. Activities designed to meet the needs of specific groups began to be incorporated in annual planning. GCC started operating with a full board, under the guidance of the senior pastor, and developed specific ministries catering to various language, age, and spiritual needs.

After several months of searching, GCC moved to the current location in October, 2000. At this location, GCC provides weekly Sunday service in English and Mandarin, weekly Bible study, small group and fellowship meetings, seminars and workshops, communions and baptisms, evangelistic meetings, mission conferences, and many other social functions.

Rev. Dale completed his ministry at GCC on June 23, 2002. Shortly afterwards, Dr. Gee Y. Lowe accepted the calling and became GCC's second pastor. Dr. Gee was ordained on Jan. 12, 2003.

Statement of Faith

We believe that God is self-existent, creator of heaven and earth, and of all mankind. He is the only true God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three in one.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, the Word incarnate, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified and died on the cross as atonement for sins. He was resurrected, ascended into Heaven, and is the mediator between God and Man.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is Comforter to the believers. He convicts people of sin and leads them to repentance. He abides forever with believers, leads them into the truth, and sanctifies them.

We believe that the Bible, consisting of sixty-six books, is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit; and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe that Man is created by God according to His image, and is depraved because of sin. Man must be born again by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ unto salvation and remission of sin in order to enter into the Kingdom of God.

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, who is its head. The Church is the family of God, consisting of all born again Christians.

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal blessedness of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
